GLICC FINISHES TOURNAMENT NO. 28 - FURRY WINS,
CLOUD AND KEHN TIE FOR 2nd IN 100-SQUARE TOURNEY!
Congratulations! to
Jesse Furry of Delmar, Delaware, also known as "Flipper Cowboy," is the winner
of the Great Lakes International Checkers Conference, the 100-square Tournament
No. 28, and a repeated championship from last year competition,
played
on ItsYourTurn.com from late March to August 4, 2012. Furry won all 9 of his
games. Vern Cloud from Buchanan, Michigan, and Gary Kehn from Warren, Michigan, tied for
second.
GLICC is not an official organization, just an informal group who play the
100-square game on ItsYourTurn.com. GLICC started in 2003 with a small group of
friends who all lived in the Great Lakes region, from Indiana, Illinois,
Michigan, and Pennsylvania. We found that playing with people you already knew
personally was better than playing with strangers, who sometimes just quit the
game and let you win on forfeit. Little by little we admitted players from other
states and sometimes other countries. Some play every time, others just
occasionally. We have completed 28 tournaments in the last 9 years, usually with
10 to 12 players each time. Each tournament lasts 3 to 4 months.

We will be taking names and starting Tournament No. 29 by Monday, Aug. 20.
Congratulations again to Jesse for winning Tournament 28, and to Vern and Gary
who tied for second.
